God expects for us to study and learn His Word. In addition, studying the Word of God will draw you closer to God, while providing you with wisdom and understanding about life's circumstance. We have provided various form of study material to assist you with your study of the Word of God.

Study Guides

Various study guides are produced by The Guiding Light Church, from teachings by Bishop Lowe, to assist you in Achieving Your Divine Potential. The study guides can be viewed online. PDF files are available for downloads.

In Genesis 1:26-28, we see the truth and reality of God’s spoken Word with regard to mankind in a simple phrase. It is here that God stated His original purpose for the creation of man. In these few verses we see Almighty God empowering man to complete his purpose on earth.

Classes

Couples' Sunday School 

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Ephesians 5:33 (KJV)

The It Takes Two Couples' Class ministers to the husband and wife as "one flesh" through scriptural teaching from of God's Word.  Couples are encouraged to keep romance in the marriage, be sensitive to their spouses' emotional and physical needs and to work together to accomplish a loving relationship and home for their family.

It Takes Two meets monthly on the fourth Sunday at 8:15 a.m.

Golden Lights Sunday School

Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding? Job 12:12 (NIV)

The Golden Lights Ministry is designed for members who are sixty years and older.  This group diligently seeks the depths of God through study of the Word in order to encourage, enrich, enhance and equip others to achieve independence and self-sufficiency.  Standing as examples to the younger generation, these men and women provide wisdom and strength to individuals who may be waivering in their faith.

The Golden Lights meet every Sunday morning at 8:00 until 9:15 for group study in the Adult Daycare Room. The class is open to all, young and old, who wish to develop a deeper scriptural understanding of God’s Word.

S.W.A.T. Sunday School

 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

Spiritual Warfare is the Christian concept of taking a stand against evil forces and it influences by using specific scripture and prayer (Tactics).

Spiritual Warfare and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) is a class that teaches how to overcome these influences and receive deliverance from  addictions (such as, alcohol, smoking, drug abuse or any spiritual strongholds) through the study of God's Word.  This class is open to all and meets every Sunday, except 4th Sunday, at 8:00 a.m. 

Women's Discipleship Bible Study

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.  Joshua 1:8 (KJV)

Women's Discipleship Bible Study is a great study time for personal growth and reflection.  The purpose of this class is to develop and grow in an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ through the study and application of the Word.  It is an opportunity to explore and study both the Old and New Testaments.  This class primarily uses study guides, developed by leading women ministers, to conduct their Bible studies.  

This class meets Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. These sessions are not always held every week so check the event calendar for their next meeting date.

Women's Sunday School 

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10 (KJV)

Straight Talk, the Women's Sunday School class, teaches lessons focusing on the unique issues and needs that women deal with daily, encouraging them with God's Word and fellowship with other women.  The classes strengthen women to become who they were created to be in their homes, church and business world by developing and increasing their knowledge of God's plan.  

Straight Talk meets monthly on the second Sunday at 8:15 a.m. 

Leadership Development

This program offers a three year program of continuing education classes for prospective deacons. The completion of these classes lead to deacon certification, on to deacon licensing and culminating with deacon ordination.  There is also a three year program of continuing education for those with ministry calls which lead to minister recognition, minister licensing and culminating with minister ordination.

Fundamentals of Ministry Leadership:
A required class for both deacons and ministers in training. It is open to the congregation.  This class provides knowledge of developing the GLC leadership family, understanding GLC organization and structure and what we believe in several key areas: including the Bible, the Holy Spirit, spiritual authority, kingdom financing, et.al.

God’s Word on Healing:
An elective for those in training which is open to all leaders and the congregation. This class carefully examines God’s Word regarding healing and provides a better understanding of His will regarding our health.

The Role of the Deacon:
All topics will center on caring for members, especially those with life issues, such as sickness and hospitalization, conflict in the family, children, depression, unemployment, death and others.

Transitioning to Eternity: 
Addresses and provides understanding of both physical death and spiritual death and of eternal life and eternal punishment.
