Experience Guiding Light Church

What to Expect

Attire

At GLC, it’s about God not clothes! We encourage everyone to come to church comfortably. Some people dress up, while others attend in casual attire. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.

Worship

Our worship time opens the service. This time is set aside for you to communicate with God. From prayer to singing, your expression of worship is based on your personality. Through live, upbeat praise, as well as, a more low-key intimate worshipful environment, our Worship Leaders will help set the atmosphere for you to boldly worship God. Remember everyone is different and worship in their own unique way – and at GLC we welcome you to worship God comfortably.

Offering

During each service there is a time in which we worship God through the giving of tithes and offerings. As a guest, please do not feel any pressure to give. This is each individual’s personal act of worship and obedience to God.

The Message (sermon)

The sermon is delivered by Bishop Jim Lowe. The sermons are messages inspired by God, that are relevant, straightforward and Scripture based. These messages will help you develop a growing, passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and provide a strong biblical foundation for your life.

The majority of the scripture references are from the NIV Bible. To ensure that everyone is reading the same passage of scripture, scriptures are placed on large monitors throughout the sanctuary. Because we understand that you may have a bible with a different translation, NIV Bibles are available at the Welcome Desk.
Communion

On the first Sunday of the month, we celebrate communion together. Anyone can participate in this time of reflection and prayer – as long as they’ve made the decision to follow Jesus Christ. The communion elements represent the life Jesus Christ sacrificed (gave up), so that our sins could be forgiven.

What is available for my child?

Our Youth Ministry offers classes for youth, six weeks to 12 years of age. The youth are taught, according to their age level, in an environment that’s designed for them. Parents are encouraged to contact the Youth Ministry for a tour and more information, before visiting The Guiding Light Church.

For parents who prefer to worship with their children under the age of six, our overflow area has been provided for your convenience. This also allows for a meaningful worship experience for others.

We believe teenagers are very special. This method is set in place to give them a balance. Therefore, twice a month, the teens attend service in the main sanctuary. On alternate Sundays, the “Teens of Light” services are held in our upstairs area called “The Attic”. This method is set in place to give them a balance. We also have special bible studies for teens at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday nights.

When you arrive on campus our parking attendants will assist you in finding a proper place to park. We have designated parking for people with special needs, as well as, the elderly.

Filled with banners highlighting the names of God, the GLC Atrium is warm and inviting. As you enter, you will sense the Holy Spirit’s presence as banners pertaining to a characteristic of God are displayed throughout the atrium. To enter the sanctuary you can simply enter any of the large wooden doors.

The sanctuary consists of 1500 theatre style seating with a state of the art sound system. Large video monitors make every seat a good seat to worship and hear the Word. In addition to our sanctuary, a special area is designated for parents with young children. Seats are available for people with special needs throughout the area.

The Youth area consists of Bibleland and the Attic and is located on the north end of the front atrium. Just look for the ark and the animals. The Attic is located upstairs above Bibleland.
